To Anywhere… Introduction

I think its probably wise to introduce myself. Most of you reading this probably have no idea who I am. My name is Mac Schaaf, I like long walks on a moonlit beach, the smell the air makes right before it rains, and most importantly, I like to travel. I wanted to start this blog to keep more as a journal for those who want stories behind the images I create and behind the scenes travel life of a photographer trying to make his way from budget travel to sponsored travel. I think I’ve already seen and experienced quite a bit in my life (I am 28 at the time of writing this) and couldn’t think of a better time to share the stories with you.

A bit of a glimpse to come, and yes I want this written on my tombstone somewhere or put in my biography that will inevitably collect dust on someone’s bookshelf or take up space on someone’s phone or whatever device we will be using in the future. I have sat above the clouds and waited on the sun to say hello. I have watched desert storms whip up winds that the natives said, hide the tracks of Skinwalkers. I have stood a top a cliff and waved at France from the tip of England. I have even seen what lies at the end of a rainbow. If that doesn’t hook someone in to reading about my life I don’t know what will! I have traveled the United States by plane and car, Stepped foot on foreign soil, stared up at a the center of the Galaxy in the night sky, and captured moments in my life that no one knows the stories behind, Until now…

Sounds so ominous with those last two words. But, seeing as this is still the introduction post. Welcome to the first day of class, I will start by telling you some things about my and then we’ll go in a circle around the room and you’ll do the same. I always hated the first day of school.

Like I said at the beginning of this post, my name is Mac Schaaf. I am a photographer from Memphis, Tennessee. The home of Elvis! I still haven’t seen Graceland. I went to college at Southwest Community College where I received an associates degree in Applied Arts. Then transferring to the University of Memphis where I received my bachelors degree in Fine Arts (Photography) with a minor in Art History. So with that being said if I get a bit wordy and nerdy about pieces of art I may reference in the future. I apologize ahead of time. Outside of photography I once held my professional bowling card for the PBA here in the states. I really enjoy the sports of lacrosse, baseball, and volleyball. And, working towards getting my Part 107 drone pilot license.

There we go now a little about me, oh, and to answer a question I get asked quite often when people find out I travel quite a lot. My Top 5 favorite places I have traveled are: 1. Monument Valley, 2. Antelope Canyon (I prefer lower because the colors pop more) 3. Kirkjufell in Iceland, 4. Skogafoss in Iceland, 5. Capitol Reef in Utah.

I wanna thank you all for taking the time to read through here and get to know me a little bit, I can’t wait to share my experiences with you all and future journeys as well. I hope you have a wonderful day! See you next time.
